Let me just say that I am in love with Nick Gautier!

"At 14, Nick Gautier is an average kid who runs with the wrong crowd. But on the night he decides to go straight and refuses to mug an innocent tourist, his crew turns on him and just as he thinks his life is over... a new one begins.

Kyrian of Thrace isn't just a vampire slayer, he's a Dark-Hunter and he introduces Nick to a world that he never imagined.

With new enemies who make his old ones look like wimps, Nick must either measure up or get sized for a body bag. It's kill or be killed and this kid who was born on the wrong side finds a strength inside him that he never knew existed.

Now if he can only find someone to help battle the demons that don't reside inside him."

This book was AWESOME! I looovvvee Nick! He is such a smart, witty, sarcastic boy. His smart remarks had me laughing the whole time.

Nick is a poor boy, forced to live in a society that treat him badly. He lives in a 1 bedroom small apartment with his mother. His mother who had him young drop out of school to take care of him. She works as a stripper, doing every thing she can to provide for him. School is no good either. The students there pick on him everyday, making him feel even more worthless then he already is. Trying to defend his mother one day, he gets into a fight and then gets expelled.

Things don't go over well with his mother. I love how Nick doesn't like to stress his mother or make her worry. He knows how hard she works and what she has to do to provide for them. He has such a strong love for his mom that is just touching. Nick ends up making a mistake one night that change his life forever. Wanting to making a little extra cash, he takes a job that takes a turn for the worst. He ends up getting shot. A Dark-Hunter named Kyrian comes by saves, then give him a job. Kyrian's character is also touching. He saw something in Nick. Something he knew that with a little guidance, Nick could turn out to be a good kid.

A video game makes it way to the football team that who ever play it turns them into zombies. Now Nick, thrown into a world he never knew, trys to save friends.

Ms. Kenyon wrote a FANTASTIC book. Nick Gautier quick wittiness to anything he encountered was a hoot! Ms. Kenyon really knows how to bring characters to life. Each character in this book had such a life to it, I felt like I was in the story watching the characters in their prime. The writing was perfect. The plot and twists of the story were great. This book is one great summer read!

I give it 5 BITES!

Happy Reading!
