"Incarceron -- a futuristic prison, sealed from view, where the descendants of the original prisoners live in a dark world torn by rivalry and savagery. It is a terrifying mix of high technology -- a living building which pervades the novel as an ever-watchful, ever-vengeful character, and a typical medieval torture chamber -- chains, great halls, dungeons. A young prisoner, Finn, has haunting visions of an earlier life, and cannot believe he was born here and has always been here. In the outer world, Claudia, daughter of the Warden of Incarceron, is trapped in her own form of prison -- a futuristic world constructed beautifully to look like a past era, an imminent marriage she dreads. She knows nothing of Incarceron, except that it exists. But there comes a moment when Finn, inside Incarceron, and Claudia, outside, simultaneously find a device -- a crystal key, through which they can talk to each other. And so the plan for Finn's escape is born ..."

This book was just wow. WOW! At first, the book started off fast and threw you right into the story. Immediately I was confused and had to back track some. But after a few chapters in I was able to finally put the big picture together and was just blown away.

Finn, for as long as he known, has been in incarceron. A jail with no escape. No one get in and no one gets out. But someone did get out. Finn along with his cell brothers fight their way to freedom. Using Finn's visions, Finn is guided by Sapphique to find his way out. He ends up finding a key that has a connection to another key which Claudia has. With this Claudia helps Finn and his friends find a way out.

Ok, I'm not sure how to explain this without giving away too much. There is so much detail and so many things going on that they all connect with one another. Finn is a great character. He is strong and does not give up. He knows that if he keeps on looking that he will find his true self. Claudia is also strong willed. I loved her. Her defiance's rocked my world. She refused to do what everyone wanted. She knew the truth and went for it, allowing no one to stop her.

The BIG secret, was just GASP! I had no idea. All this time, I thought it was something when it wasn't. Let me just tell you that the whole revelation will not let you down. If anything it makes you read faster, wanting to read all the connections and such.

The book was great and I have high hopes for the movie. I just hoped that they don't ruin it.

I give it 5 BITES!

Happy Reading!

  1. I began this, but a few chapters in I just got confused and didn't get it lol. But I will go back to it because I bet it does get heaps better. I thought it started a bit slow or it's probably just me.

  2. This book definitely takes some concentration, but it is interesting!

  3. @Braiden, yeah me too. I got confused real quick and had to back track. It upset me but I kept reading and to my surprise it got better :)

    @Smash, yup.

  4. They say they are making a movie of this and Taylor Lautner is Finn.

  5. Great review Savy! I really enjoyed this one as well, I thought the creativity was brilliant and the worlds were crazy detailed. Definitely one you have to pay attention to while reading, but I liked that about it:) Can't wait to see what you think of Sapphique!

  6. Great review, Savy! I loved the world within Incarceron, and the only reason I docked a point was because I got really lost and confused because of how intricate some parts were haha :)

  7. I'm reading Incarceron right now - I'm about halfway into it. At the beginning I was confused for a bit. Liking it right now.

  8. I agree that parts were a bit confusing and intricate, but I also thought the book was awesome! I'm not sure how I feel about Taylor Lautner as Finn...

  9. i've seen this one around a lot, but never really knew what it was about. thanks for the awesome review!

  10. I have seen this around, and was very curious thanks for the review. Adding this to my list.

Also dropping of an award, not sure if you accept them but wanted to thank you for the awesome job you do.

  11. LOL The big secret. You are as evil as I am! ;) Loved your review. I need to pick up this series. I so want to read them both.

  12. I'm reading it! It's very addictive! It's hard to stop reading to go to work or bed ^^
But sometimes it makes me freaking out!

  13. Yeah, it is very easy to get confused with what exactly is happening in this world. Sometimes I was turned off, but overall, I liked it.

So glad you enjoyed it. I'm happy about the movie deal, but don't know what to think about Taylor as Finn. :/

  14. nice review Savy! I have this one on my shelf hehe looking forward to reading it =D
