"Kaia's entire life has erupted in flames after an assassin appears and burns her village down. She's rescued by a god from another planet who requests her help because she's the descendant of their last savior. Together with Reeze -- the only other survivor from her village and her appointed guardian -- they set off on a quest to find the treasures of the gods in hopes of preventing a dire prophesy. Kaia and Reeze quickly meet the Tueors, a group of people many thought extinct, who are searching specifically for Kaia. Their intention: to protect the truth. As Kaia discovers more about the truth and her family's past, she also learns of the Tueors' bloody secret. Will Kaia be the savior the gods have been waiting for? Or will she let the prophesy come true?"

What I liked most about the book were the characters. They were written well and showed great strength in what they had to do. I loved Kaia. After her life was turned upside down by Gods, Goddesses, and other worldly things she remained strong. She did what she was suppose to do and followed her instincts.

I also enjoyed reading about Reeze. He is the type of guy that shows up in the nick of time to help then stays by you. I loved his alpha male personality. But the secret he was harboring broke my heart. I was glad that he was able to make the right decision.

The Gods and Goddesses were real interesting that they were called by colors. I have not seen or read that before so I was excited to read something unique and different. The whole prophecy with the sister world is interesting. Although at times, the plot did seem confusing but I was able to get back on track and read on.  The world the Ms. Freitas created is really out of the box and unique.

My only gripe about this book is the plot. It was very confusing to grab a hold of from the start. I found that I had to re-read parts in order to figure out what happen. The plot itself is interesting, but for the reader it hard to follow and understand. I felt like there was something missing. Overall, the book is good.

I give it 3 BITES!

Happy Reading!

  1. Oh, the Gods and Goddesses premise sounds very intriguing, though I'd probably be frustrated by that plot too. Glad you had a good time with it overall!

  2. Though the confusing plot is a little worrisome, I do love the sound of the characters and I'm always a sucker for the alpha male personality. And you've got me really curious as to what secret he's harboring:) Great review Savy!

  3. I'm reading a book right now that I am having trouble getting into because of the plot - it's spec fic, so maybe that goes with the territory, but I know what you mean. This one has a very interesting premise though - love the color incorporation! Thanks Savy!

  4. Hm... Love the gods and goddesses part, but with a plot like that... don't think it is for me. Great review. I think I'll pass on this book.
