"The Blood Scene Trilogy combines the reality and perils of being a teenager with the added twists and turns of having to deal with being an immortal, bloodsucking rocker kid at the same time. The stories follow three “scene kidz” on a journey that their Indie Rock’n’Roll lifestyle in the suburbs could never have prepared them for. Searching for answers, and making bizarre discoveries, they learn not only about a part of life, and the afterlife, they never knew existed, but also about the true, unmasked nature of themselves. Kyle Ryan, his best friend Josh, and Josh’s twin sister Jackie, the three outcast, left-of-center heroes of this journey, are challenged, horrified and changed in ways they never thought possible, and may find irreversible.

BOOK I - Scene Immortal is the story of Kyle Ryan, a popular/unpopular kid, a “scene boi”, an affable rocker type, who on his eighteenth birthday is given the gift of blood-tinged immortality by his Indie Rock idol, lead singer of the quickly-rising Darkwave band Alphatwyn. His best friend, the oddly jovial Goth dude, Josh, and Josh’s twin sister Jackie ( who happens to be Kyle’s ex), go on a journey to find Kyle’s Vampire creator, in the hopes of pulling from him the secrets and vital answers questions he left his new “child of the night” without."

What really got me about this book was the great connection with the main character, Kyle. I loved that while reading this book, I got a great insight on who he is. I loved reading his emotions, and feelings like I was in his shoes.

Kyle is a great character. His feelings are so raw and hurt. I loved how even when he was hurt, he held it in, forbidding anyone to see it. He needed help and boy did he get it. As his friends try to find out his new status of a vampire, I like that they all stuck by each other.

My gripe is the relationship status. While I'm glad that Kyle has  love interest, Jackie totally ticked me off. I hated how she treated him. One minute she wanted him and the next, no. I was really upset cause I felt like Kyle deserved more. He was a great friend and really needed someone to lean on. I hope he finds someone better than her.

The plotline was good. As the reader, you fall into fast, getting into Kyle's shoe's quickly. Some parts were slow, while other times it was good. I am curious to know what happen with his makers.

There was cursing and talk of homosexuality*

I give it 3 BITES!

Happy Reading!

  1. Awww I feel so bad for Kyle already and I haven't even read it! I hate when characters do the push/pull things with relationships, I always get so upset for the poor person on the receiving end and want more for them just like you! Hopefully Kyle gets it:)

  2. Sometimes girls are just like that for some weird reason. Like him one minute, hate him the next. LOL

Fast plotline and a great main character. Yup, sounds good.

  3. it is annoying when people do that, but I guess it's realistic as well. The main character sounds really interesting.

  4. Oh I think I'd like Kyle, but I wouldn't like his GF. Sounds like a good one. I hadn't heard of it.

  5. Plot is important to me, but the interaction between characters is, too. I'm not sure I'd be able to stomach this. Fabulous honest review, Savy :)
