Review: Anna Dressed in Blood

Title: Anna Dressed In Blood
Series: Anna Dressed in Blood # 1
Genre: Young Adult- Paranormal/Supernatural
Author: Kendare Blake
Publisher: Tor Teen
Release Date: August 30, 2011
Book: I Read Banned Books Book Tour

"Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

But she, for whatever reason, spares Cas's life."

When I first started this book I jumped on my couch and dove right into it. I wasn't sure what to expect being that this is a different read for me, but knew I might still enjoy it. It rocked!

What I liked most about this book is the story line. I have to admit that with the whole ghost element to it really grasped the reader. I dove right into Cas shoes, met Anna and became someone else. I love it when books do that for me. Ms. Blake writing is easy to read and so easy to fall into. You the reader, really get into book hunting down ghost with Cas.

The other element in this book I liked is Cas as a ghost buster. (Oh no! Don't tell him I called him that. He doesn't like it! hehe) I liked the history of Cas's ghost hunting abilities and how he made a living off of it. Ms. Blake did a great job not only capturing the voice of a teenage ghost buster, but created a wonderful back round history to the story as well.

That is other part of the book that really made the story, the history of Anna. Wow, I mean WOW! I was blown away by the harsh history Anna had and how is affected her in the afterlife. I cringed myself just thinking about. Ms. Blake really made the reader feel the emotions for Anna as well as Cas. I loved feeling Anna's anger and hurt but also her joy and sorrow when it was all over and done with.

If you like a great ghost story with a different twist on it, read this book. I can tell you after reading this book I am amazed of how fast and how well I really enjoyed the book. Ms. Blake present you with a story that will haunt you forever!

I give it 4 BITES!

Happy  Reading!
