Blog Tour: Perception: Author Interview + Giveaway!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Blog Tour for Perception.
The blog tour is hosted by Books Complete Me.
Today I have an interview with the lovely author, Kim Harrington!!

"When you can see things others can't, what do you do when someone's watching you?

Everybody knows about Clarity "Clare" Fern. She's the psychic girl in school, the one who can place her hands on something and see hidden visions from the past.

Only Clare would rather not be a celebrity. She prefers hanging back, observing. Her gift is not a game to her.

But then someone starts playing with her head . . . and heart. Messages and gifts from a secret admirer crop up everywhere Clare turns. Could they be from Gabriel, the gorgeous boy who gets Clare's pulse racing? Or from Justin, Clare's hopeful ex-boyfriend who'd do anything to win her back?

One thing is certain. Clare needs to solve this mystery, and soon. Because the messages are becoming sinister, and a girl in town has suddenly disappeared."

What do you think makes a good story?

A good story is one that I don’t want to put down and that I find myself thinking about long after the story is done.

What do you have in store for the Clarity series? How many books are planned for the series?
Right now it’s just the two. I would love to write another Clarity book and I already know the plot (fans can probably guess it), but in case I don’t get that opportunity, I worked hard to end Perception in what I hope is a satisfying way.

Do you read the same genre as you write? What are you currently reading?

In YA, I read everything—contemporary, paranormal, mysteries. In adult fiction, I mostly buy thrillers but I’ll toss in something else now and then, too. I miss horror and really wish it would make a comeback. I’m currently reading Fracture by Megan Miranda and loving it.

Why do you write for teens rather than for adults?

I think my voice lends itself to YA. And I think there’s more freedom in YA. The category isn’t as constrained by genre. For instance, my 2013 standalone is a horror, ghost story, murder mystery, romance. In the adult world, they wouldn’t know where to place it. In YA, you don’t have to fit your book into a specific box.
With Spring around the corner, what books do you want to read?

I think The Night She Disappeared by April Henry sounds awesome. And I’m also looking forward to Stay Close by Harlan Coben.

Thank you Ms. Harrington for the interview!

  8. Oh I need the second book. I have the first on my tbr and I love reading books back to back. So great that the series has more to it coming as well!

  9. I agree that there's more freedom in YA. Perhaps because it's more down to earth - in that the authors generally don't feel the need to be too hoighty toity literary.

  10. I always love the writing style of YA books. I love books that are out of the box and special. Great interview. can't wait for this book
