"Jackson Godspeed is the hottest young Angel in a city filled with them. He's days away from becoming a full Guardian, and people around the world are already competing for the chance to be watched over by him. Everyone's obsessed with the Angels and the lucky people they protect--everyone except for Madison Montgomery.

Maddy's the one girl in Angel City who doesn't breathlessly follow the Angels on TV and gossip blogs. When she meets Jackson, she doesn't recognize him. But Jackson is instantly captivated by her, and against all odds the two fall in love.

Maddy is swiftly caught up in Jackson's scene, a world of glamour, paparazzi - and murder. A serial killer is on the loose, leaving dead Angels' wings for the police to find on the Walk of Fame. Even the Guardians are powerless to protect themselves in the face of this threat … and this time it's up to Maddy to save Jackson."

After beginning this book and very excited for it, it did not live up to my expectations. Don't get me wrong, the book was good, but I felt like something was missing.

What I liked most about this book is the unique twist in the plot line.  I have read lots of angels stories through out the years but never have I read one where people pay for angels to protect them. I like the stamina that comes with being a angel and what their duties uphold. Through out the book, there is a war brewing. I liked that this part of the book gave a much better insight to what the angels have been going through.

The characters of the book were written well but not all that I wanted. There was a girl, Maddy, who in turn had a secret as well. And Jackson. Now Jackson I loved better than the girl. Jackson's life is different despite what he grew up around. I liked that both the characters had a immediate attraction to each other. The fight that is ahead of them is not easy, yet they stood their ground. There were secrets coming out page after page, but nothing gasping. It was all a little to predictable for me.

Immortal City is a quick fun entertaining book. The ambition of the book is strong, yet very predictable.

I give it 3 BITES!

Happy Reading!

  1. Honestly, I freaking loved this book!!! I thought it was done really well, and I really enjoyed the crazy take on angels. I loved how they were used protection and were paid and everything! SO CRAZY! I wish you loved it more, but I could see what you wouldn't :) glad you liked it at least!

  3. That is a fascinating plot twist on most angel stories. It intrigues me. Too bad the rest of the book wasn't as good.

  5. Ah... I don't mind predictability as long as it is well written. Hm... I don't know about the insta-love though... Will have to think about this one. Thanks Savvy!
