Interview: Nely Cab

Hello and welcome to The Lethal Book Tour featuring Creature!

I have a wonderful interview with her.

Why do you write for teens?

I like to write Young Adult fiction because it's a genre that focuses on the age where we learn the most. I feel that there's a lot of room to teach lessons and morals that teenagers (and adults) can capture through fictional stories. I also like writing for teens because I've already lived through that phase and it was one of the best times in my life.

How much research goes into what you write?

A lot of research. For example, I can spend days or weeks researching a city to get a feel for what the setting of the book should feel like. I like to describe things in detail, such as the characters would see it to make it more believable, and that can be tricky when I've never actually visited the city where the book takes place.

Which characters to you find easy/hard to write?

I find Isis is an easy character to write, but David and his family are harder to write because their personalities are so very different from any person I've ever encountered.

Can you share a little bit with us from the sequel Vivus? (Pretty please with a cherry on top?)

"David took a few steps back and landed on a small sofa. His eyes were set on a portrait of his family that hung on the wall above a mahogany credenza.  “If the Council becomes aware that my identity has been exposed, they will begin a routine investigation. They will find out that we have been protecting Isis and my entire family will die.” He turned to me with consternation in his stare, “Your mother, as well.”

Are there any books that you look forward to reading this fall?

I'd like to read some of the books on my TBR pile, including Divergent by Veronica Roth, Eve by Anna Carey, Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare, and maybe pick up a few new fall releases such as What's Left of Me by Kat Zhang.

Thanks for the interview Savannah!

Thanks so much for answring my questions Nely :)
