"Cinder returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.
Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own.
As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner."

Re-telling of fairy tales are one of my favorite types of books that I can ever pick up. So whenever I hear that an author is writing a fairy tale, I already know that I want to check out that book. With Marissa Meyer’s Cinder she had me from cyborg Cinderella, and now with Red Riding Hood joining the ranks I was caught.

I find it interesting how authors are going to approach writing their book when they have to weave two characters together and how they have to build up before the characters actually meet. However, hands down, Marissa Meyer can do this with ease. I found the different perspectives flow right after the other and the story just went with no pauses.

I love Cinder. She is a girl that just learned a big secret and for me she seems like she is keeping it all under control but underneath all that calmness is her screaming and wondering how in the world she could be who she is. I love how her character is overall and there is nothing I would change.

Now with Scarlet entering the story, I love how Ms. Meyer took the big bad Wolf and changed him in a street fighter who is part of a group. The idea behind this is creative and is something I would find a hard time creating. Scarlet is just a girl who wants to look for her grandmother, but this red riding hood is improved and knows how to kick some serious ass, especially with a gun. Amazing character!

The romance in this novel is also compelling and butterflies form in my stomach when emotions are shown. The ending, however, was gut-wrenching and I have to wait for the next book to see what will happen next.

Overall Marissa Meyer is hands down a creative author who knows how to create mind blowing re-telling with serious kick-ass characters. Scarlet is a novel one should add to their improved fairy tale collection and if you haven’t checked out Cinder, I advise for you to put what you reading down and go check it out. One word to explain it all: EPIC!

I give it 5 bites!
