"Convinced she’s a part of the witness protection program, sixteen-year-old Jewel Rose is shuffled around the globe with her family like a pack of traveling gypsies. After arriving at lucky home twenty-seven, she stumbles upon a mysterious boy with magical powers claiming to be her guardian . . . and warning of imminent danger. Despite the obvious sparks between them, Jewel discovers a relationship is forbidden, and the more she learns about dark, brooding Roman, she begins to question who she can even believe—the family who raised her, or the supposed sworn protector who claims they’ve been lying to her all along.

As she struggles to uncover who her family has really been running from, she is forced to hide her birthmark that reveals who she is. With new realities surfacing, unexplained powers appearing, and two tempting boys vying for her heart, Jewel battles to learn who she can trust in an ever growing sea of lies, hoping she’ll make it through her seventeenth birthday alive."

This book is fascinating. I loved the whole idea of the book along with the characters.

What I adored most about this book is the great plot. We have a young girl who has been hidden as to what she is. I liked that everything about her is a lie. As she learns who she really is, who her real parents are, is makes for an exciting plot that never ends. I swear that each chapter you find out more and more and it just entices you to keep reading!

The characters are amazing. Especially Jewel. Her character is well written and had great growth to her. I like that despite what lies she has been told, she keeps moving forward to find her real life. The fight for her mysterious power, the search for what she can really do is awesome. This book reminded of another book similar is Once a Witch. If you love that type of book then you will love this one.

Spectral is an amazing read of fantasy, powers, and wars. The search for the ultimate witch with the ultimate power illuminates a world that no reader can resist to enter. Spectral is a beautiful story grows richly powerful with each new chapter.

I give it 4 BITES!

Happy Reading!

  3. This sounds like a solid read, and it's got a stunning cover which is always a check in the positive column for me, shallow as it is:) I've been on a bit of a fantasy kick lately, so this one should fit right in. Thanks Savy!
