This would have been one of the books I bought at the book fairs. When I was little, I used to love reading R.L . Stine Goosebumps as well the Kathrine Applegate Animorphs, those were my favorite. Come to think of it, even now I still read those types of stories. LOL!

This book has great insider information. There's information on what to do on a haunting. Like what to bring, (camera, flashlight, etc), what to look for, where you should go. It fun's and easy to read. There is also information of what to do after your investigation. Like what to look for in your photos, what to listen for in your voice recorder, etc. It address safety issues as well. No trespassing, get parents permission, etc.

My fave part of the book is after every chapter there are some short urban legends. Those I devoured cause I love that stuff. It reminds me of Are you Afraid of the Dark? Does anyone remember that show? Love it!
At the end of the book, there are some blank pages to log in your own investigations to get started with. Super cool!

The Girls Ghost Hunting Guide is a splendid, well put together guide for that ghost lover. Easy information broken down into parts so that no one gets confused. Be sure to include your friends and become your own team of ghost hunters!

I give it 4 BITES!

Happy Reading!

Review: Real Mermaids Don't Hold Their Breath

Title: Real Mermaids Don't Hold Their Breath
Series: Real Mermaids # 2
Genre: Middle Grade-Fantasy
Author: Helene Boudreau
Publisher: Sourcebooks Jabberwocky
Release Date: May 1, 2012
Book: ARC sent by publisher

"Jade begins her summer confused. Yes, there's that whole "will this be a leg-day or a tail-day" kind of confusion, but Jade's got even bigger problems: It's been three weeks since Mom returned to the ocean with no news of her whereabouts. Plus, it's been twenty-one days since Jade first kissed her mer-boy Luke and now-nothing.
Will Mom find the enchanted tidal pool that will allow her to become human? And why is Luke acting so weird?
The SEAquel to Helene Boudreau's critically acclaimed Real Mermaids Don't Wear Toe Rings is as energetic and fresh as a salty sea breeze."

Cute story! Fun and fresh, I had no trouble diving into this book, falling into the world quickly.

Being that this book is the second and I still have not read the first, I did not have any trouble picking up where the author left off. The author does a great job on catching up the reader without it being too much. The subtle hints and past thoughts help the reader move at a smooth pace along with the story.

The plot line of this book is enjoyable. There is some action in it that made me feel giddy. I love that Jade is practical in all that she does. At times, she acts way more mature at her age. I admire that about her. Jade is just like any other teenager, a plate full of school, drama, and of course, her adventures under the sea. I especially enjoy the little plot twist here and there. The reader doesn't expect them, so it makes the book so much exciting with each page turn.

The love interest play out good too. I like that Jade takes everything in so calmly even through she is freaking out in her head. Her thoughts and feelings are well describe for the boy. The excitement that Jade feels of smirks, drama, and life in general makes me feel young again.

Real Mermaids Don't Hold Their Breath is an sweet and enduring story. With the rise and fall in the plot, it hold the reader in their seat. Made to be charming, you can't help but love this book.

I give it 4 BITES!

Happy Reading!

Plus
Gargoyles, goblins, and Frankenstein's monster on the loose
The world's most frighteningly delicious school lunch
And
The narrator's an eleven-year-old ghost
Join Charles "New Kid" Nukid as he makes some very Scary friends--including Petunia, Johnny, and Peter the Wolf--and figures out that Scary School can be just as funny as it is spooky."

What a cute book! I am so glad that I finally got to read it. This book is not something I normally read but I wanted something funny and easy to read. And this book did the trick.

Scary School! Everything a new kid goes through school except a little different. There are many funny moments in the book that make me snicker and snort. The plot line itself is simple yet engaging. A new kid coming in, facing new school blues, adjusting to new teachers, and new students.

The illustrations in the book goes along nicely with each new chapter. I loved that each illustration depicts a  nerdy student or a crazy fang teacher! LOL! With each new chapter, the reader meets a new character that only add more my imagination.

Scary School is a great book for kids. Filled with funny characters and amazing drawings, it's enough to capture any kids mind. Scary school is awesome!

I give it 4 BITES!
