Review: Crescendo

Title: Crescendo (Hush, Hush #2)
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
Release Date: October 19, 2010
Book: Bought

"Feisty teen Nora Grey somehow survived the crises of Hush, Hush!, but dangers just as frightening loom in this standalone sequel. Patch, her guardian angel and love interest, appears to have a dark side and a wandering eye. Worse yet, he seems intent on obstructing Nora as she hunts for the truth behind her father's mysterious death. Even better than the first."

Crescendo means a passage played with a gradual increase in volume or intensity. That is what this book did. It intensified with each page turn, taking me on one heck of an emotional ride. It was so good that I read this book in under four hours.

After spending a few blissful months together, Nora get hit with a bomb she never expected. All of sudden her boyfriend, Patch, is hanging out with another girl who is none other her emeny... or is she?

Let me tell you I adored Nora in this book. Her character was gripping and stood tall. When things seems off she confronted the situation right away. She wasn't afraid to ask questions. She was just afraid of the answers. I mean, who wouldn't be. You find out your boyfriend is with another girl you be nervous too right.

Many times I wanted to slap Patch. I understood he was trying to protect her, and do his job but why did he have to lie so much! I hate liars!!

Scott was awesome. Every time I heard his five year old nickname, I giggled. Even now just thinking about makes me laugh. Poor guy had it rough to. I was glad to see that Nora could someway help him. Plus he paid her back. I thought that was nice of him.

The secret. Why so many secrets??? The bomb that was drop in this book was revelating. I had no idea. I just kept on gasping and turning the page. It was that good. And the ending! How could it end like that!! I need more. When I read the last page I was mad. Beyond furious! This could not be happening to me.
*sigh* I'll just have to wait till next time find out.

I give it 5 BITES!

Happy Reading!

Review: Halo

Title: Halo
Series: Halo # 1
Genre: Young Adult-Supernatural
Author: Alexrandra Adornetto
Publisher: Feiwel & Friends
Release Date: August 31, 2010
Book: Bought

"Nothing much happens in the sleepy town of Venus Cove. But everything changes when three angels are sent from heaven to protect the town against the gathering forces of darkness: Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, a teenage girl who is the least experienced of the trio. They work hard to conceal their true identity and, most of all, their wings.

But the mission is threatened when the youngest angel, Bethany, is sent to high school and falls in love with the handsome school captain, Xavier Woods. Will she defy the laws of Heaven by loving him? Things come to a head when the angels realize they are not the only supernatural power in Venus Cove. There′s a new kid in town and he′s charming, seductive and deadly. Worst of all, he′s after Beth."

I must say that I really enjoyed this book. I love the whole aspect of angels on earth, healing and protecting others. And this story was one that truly captured my heart.

Now, some may not like this book being that it did start off slow. It took me a couple of chapters to finally get into the book. Also it has a lot of biblical references. So if you are not familiar with that, you might not understand all that it is in the book.

Beth is sent to earth on a divine mission. Her mission is to simply place faith in others where they lack. Beth is faced with a town that has been wreak in havoc by evil. She does her best, by fitting in and helping others. In doing so, she meets a boy who she falls in love with. That was not part of her mission. Beth is faced to come to terms when her brother Gabriel is called to the covenant. When he returns, her consequences is not what she expected...

I love how Ms. Adornetto connected with the angels. She wrote these characters strong, yet weak. By that I mean when they come to earth, they have no idea about the way their bodies work, culture works, school works, etc. They do manage to fit in quickly and the small miracles that they do are great.

I really enjoyed the twist in the book. I like how Ms. Adornetto uses both sides (heaven and hell) in this book. The way she twisted everything around was great. Some things I saw coming, and while others (like Beth's consequences) was something I did not see coming. It just goes to show, that what God has planned for is something we may never know. We just have to trust ours hearts and God.

I give it 5 BITES!

Review: Fallen

Title: Fallen
Series: Fallen # 1
Genre: Young Adult- Paranormal/Angels
Author: Lauren Kate
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Release Date: December 8, 2009
Book: Bought

"There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her."

This book was absolutely-freaking-BRILLIANT! I loved this book.

We begin with Luce, a delinquent teen who goes to a reform school. She meets Daniel Grigori who seems oddly familiar to her. Daniel is completely rude and hostile towards her. He looks at her mean, talks to her rude. Luce baffled by this wants to know why he treats her so rudely.

Daniel is a fallen angel. A fallen angel cursed to live while his true love Luce is taken away. Just think, you fall in love, have a first kiss, say "I love you" then BAM! She's gone. Just like that. Not to see her again for another seventeen years! Well Daniel has had enough. He is tired of going through pain of losing her.
This is not an action pack book. It has a lot more dialogue in the relationship between Daniel and Luce. I loved that part. Seeing them grow together in the relationship is the best. Also getting to hear about their past lives was neat too.

The book was darkenly dangerous from the beginning. It was well written and the plot... OMG! The plots that lead to the ending were, well...lets just say I didn't see that one coming! I was hook on Daniel and Luce with their love story. Forget vampires! If you want to read a different kind of paranormal read this. Fallen is a dark, romantic, mysterious read.
I give it 5 BITES!

Happy Reading!
