Blog Tour: Guest Post - Character Bio of Lord Narian, Champion for Cokyri

Hello and Welcome to the Allegiance Blog Tour!
Today we have a guest post about the charming Lord Narian!

CHAMPION STATISTICS:
Lord Narian

Though only seventeen years old, golden-haired Narian has seen more of the world with his sharp, ice-blue eyes than most people will see in a lifetime, and he is far wiser than his age would indicate.  Born the son of Baron Koranis of Hytanica, Narian was kidnapped as an infant and raised in the enemy land of Cokyri for a single purpose – to lead a siege against the land of his birth, for legend holds that only he can overthrow Hytanica.  But when he found out he’d been lied to his entire life, he fled Cokyri to discover what Hytanica was really like, only to meet Princess Alera and fall in love with her.

Misunderstood and underestimated, Narian was rejected by his birth family and many other Hytanican nobles for his Cokyrian upbringing.  But those who defamed him were forced to take a second look when he defeated Steldor, son of the Captain of the Guard, in a tournament fight gone awry.  He is quick on his feet and highly observant, enabling him to pinpoint and exploit his enemy’s weaknesses.

Narian is quiet, mysterious, and frighteningly good at hiding his emotions.  But little by little, Alera broke through his barriers to see him for what he really is – a strong young man with an independent mind who has suffered devastating betrayals.  Alera trusts Narian completely, for he treats her differently than any other man she has ever known, listening to her ideas and valuing her opinions.  But when he vanishes from Hytanica at a critical moment, she is forced to marry Steldor and assume that Narian is now her enemy.  The only insurance she has is Narian’s heartfelt promise that he will never do anything to harm her.

Review: Allegiance

Title: Allegiance
Series: Legacy # 2
Genre: Young Adult- Historical/Fantasy
Author: Cayla Kulver
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Release Date: February 28, 2012
Book: Netgalley

"Only I saw Narian for who he truly was: a young man with courage and an independent mind, and made to pay for what was outside his control. He couldn't help his past any more than he could help the way those intense, deep-blue eyes pierced me and held me captive.

An eighteen-year-old queen in love with the enemy as their countries pass the point of no return...

Bound to a man she cannot love, Queen Alera of Hytanica must forget Narian, the young man who holds her heart. For Narian is destined to conquer Hytanica at the behest of his master, the powerful magic-user known as the Overlord. Alera doesn't truly believe Narian will fight against Hytanica-until Cokyrian troops attack with Narian commanding the charge.

Faced with the greatest betrayal a heart can know, Alera must set aside personal feelings and lead her kingdom through its darkest time. And when all hope, will and courage seem lost, she must find strength and remember that even the blackest night must have a dawn...."

After reading the first book, I was hooked! This book picks up right where it left off and the reader is swept away by emotions, a brewing war and a marriage!

I really enjoyed the feel of the book. It was like me stepping through a portal of time, watching everything unfold before my eyes. Alera is going through some tough times and major changes. I really like how in this book she dealt with everything. She takes her new position as queen every seriously, even going as far as standing up to her overbearing dad. The reader can feel Alera emotions so well through the wonderful writing of Ms. Kulver. At times, the emotions are dripping off the page that you just want to drown in it. The feeling of being in Alera shoe's is a once in a lifetime feeling.
Now, the love interest gets a little complicated. There is no real love triangle going on physically  but the reader is left with the aching feeling of emptiness in Alera's heart. The longing she felt and the duty she is bound to left the reader's heart aching. Alear long for some freedom, long for the love that she wanted and needed. I admire her strength to do the right thing in the line of duty. That has got to be one of the toughest position to be in. To love from afar, all cause you must keep your word.

If you want a heart wrenching, writing explosion of emotions, war, and fighting, read this book. The detailing of the time and place takes the reader off to the lands of Hytanica raging the war between right and wrong. In the darkest time, Alera will face the toughest questions. What do you go with? Your heart or your duty?

I give it 4 BITES!
Happy Reading!

Review: Legacy

Title: Legacy
Series: Legacy # 1
Genre: Young Adult-Fantasy/Historical Romance
Author: Cayla Kluver
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Release Date: June 21, 2011
Book: Netgalley

"The first boy disappeared on the day of his birth, on a night when the pale yellow moon of the nighttime sky turned red and bathed the heavens in the ghastly color of blood, on the same night the Kingdom of Cokyri abruptly ceased its merciless attack.

Across the land of Hytanica, under the shadow of the crimson moon, infant boys continued to vanish. Not until the blood had faded from the sky did the disappearances stop and the bodies of the murdered infants were found outside the gates of the city, a final word from the greatest enemy Hytanica had ever known. For the next sixteen years, peace reigned, but one mystery remained unsolved. The Cokyrians had abducted forty-nine newborns, but returned only forty-eight bodies. Now, as seventeen-year-old Princess Alera of Hytanica is besieged from all sides by suitors vying for the Throne, a teenage Cokyrian boy, Narian, is encountered within the walls of her Kingdom, a boy who will show Alera a world where women serve a purpose and not just a husband. As Narian helps Alera find her voice, she struggles against an arranged marriage that will shatter the life she has scarcely begun to live. And when Narian's shocking past is uncovered, and war with Cokyri looms once more, he must fight to defy a fate ordained at his birth."

What really got me about this book is the great pacing of it. As you read it, everything is given to you little by little so you are not left behind or given too much. You were given just enough to keep you entertain in the book and never bored.

The storyline for one is awesome! The reader is immediately put into a town that had a bad history. I really loved it when a book starts off with a great history not only to the characters but the story as well. I love how well the story just kept on going with so much information that you just devoured it. There was so much to read. All the information based on the city, the king, their kingdom was cool.

Alera is a strong characters. She comes off as fresh yet she is her own self. She knows what is expected of her but want to follow her heart. I loved Alea attitude with things. At times she was so dramatic it made me laugh. She is very insightful about things and is selfless.

The love interest was good but had me confused at times. I was so sure that when I started reading that there was something about London, but no, I was wrong. Which I like cause Ms. Kluver really kept me on my toes. Nothing was predictable in this book. Nothing. The love interest played well with the history of the kingdom and really escalated  into an awesome forbidden love.

Legacy is a great historical book with a great plot line. I enjoyed reading every single word in that book. It made me smile, laugh, and most of all, made me feel the story. Ms. Kluver writing was easy to read so you fell into the story quickly.

I give it 5 BITES!
